My Experience with Nomio
Bálint Szinte
I examined the effects of Nomio on training performance through a total of three experimental trials, and my initial impressions were very positive.
First try
Ahead of a demanding interval workout consisting of 400 m and 200 m repetitions, I drank one bottle of Nomio the evening before, just before going to sleep, and another one 3 hours before the training session the next day. During the experiment, I noticed two effects:
- During sleep, I woke up several times due to a tingling—occasionally slightly numbing—sensation in my legs
- During the workout, even when my effort reached FTP-intensive or even anaerobic intensity zones, the usual sensation of muscular acidosis did not appear in my lower limbs.
I started the first part of the session at a relatively fast pace, which caused the second part to be interrupted due to a sudden muscle cramp. As a result, the first experiment was not successful.
Second try
On a second, even more demanding interval session two days later, I repeated the experiment. This time, however, I only took the dose 3 hours before the workout. The main set consisted of 800 m and 400 m repetitions, and on the longer intervals the effect was even more noticeable, as the absence of acidosis became more pronounced. Thanks to a more controlled start, I was able to complete the entire session, and during the very last repetition I was even able to increase the pace beyond what had been planned.
5x800 m, 5x400 m
2:19.1, 2:16.3, 2:15.3,2:13.1, 2:10.8 [average: 2:14.9]
64.3, 63.2, 61.8, 61.3, 57.6 [average: 61.4]
The second experiment concluded successfully: within the FTP range, the usual sensation of muscular acidosis did not occur.
Third try
Two more days later, I tested Nomio during a race-like training session. I ran 3000 m (9:03), 2000 m (5:47), and 1000 m (2:34) at 5000 m, 3000 m, and 2000 m race pace, respectively. On this occasion, the effect of Nomio was especially noticeable for me: despite arriving at the session relatively fatigued, I not only avoided acidosis, but my heart rate values also remained stable within the planned zones—staying in the FTP-intensive range and only reaching the anaerobic zone in the final third of each distance.
The success of the third experiment surpassed even the second, and for me, Nomio passed with top marks.
